Adding MemoryLab to your Brightspace course (and gradebook)

Updated on

This page tells you how to add a MemoryLab set or lesson to your Brightspace course and how to view your students' progress.

Step 1: Accessing the course content

To add a MemoryLab lesson to your course, first go to the course on Brightspace and navigate to ‘Content’ using the navigation bar.

Step 2: Click on ‘Existing Activities’ in the desired section

You can add a MemoryLab lesson to a section in the content overview. To do this, first choose a section on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on ‘Existing Activities’ at the top right followed by ‘MemoryLab Lesson’.

Do not add the same lesson multiple times in your course. Doing so will create two columns of figures.

Step 3: Select one or more MemoryLab lessons (groups)

After selecting ‘MemoryLab Lesson’ in step 2, you are logged in to MemoryLab and will see an overview of your lessons. Using the checkboxes, you can select an entire group of lessons or a single lesson (Click the arrow next to a purple group name to expand the group and select a single lesson from a group).

Step 4: Setting the options

In this view, you can choose whether you want a column of marks for each selected MemoryLab lesson in your Brightspace course and enter the maximum number of points. MemoryLab will divide the maximum possible number of points by the number of mastery credits a student has received. The student will get the maximum score after getting all the mastery credits for the lesson.

Complete your selection by clicking ‘Select class’.

If you change the number of required Memory Credits for a lesson after adding the lesson to the Brightspace environment, students' grade centre will automatically update as soon as they start using the system. This means that if students were already using the system before the change in required Credits was made, they should start using the system before the change is visible in the grade centre.

In this last step, you will see an overview of the selected classes and the options you have selected. Click on ‘Create links’.

Step 6: Done!

Students who have access to your course can now open the MemoryLab lesson in Brightspace!

Viewing student progress

You can track student progress in the grade centre. Access the grade centre by clicking on ‘Administration’ followed by ‘Grades’ in the course navigation bar.
